Performance, balanced handling, sharp looks, fine gearchange.
Punishing ride, fuel consumption, running costs.
More at home now on the road than rally stage, the Evolution X has finally grown up.

Running costs for the tenth-generation Evolution have been specifically addressed for the new model. Servicing schedules now stretch form the old car's 4,500 miles interval to a more conventional 10,000 miles.
The FQ-300 we drove averages 27.4mpg on the combined cycle, while the SST automated manual version returns 26.2mpg. On emissions all Evolution X fare badly. Where CO2 emissions are concerned, both manual and the SST auto have CO2 emissions of 246g/km and 256g/km of carbon dioxide emissions respectively. This means that the whole Evo range falls in the maximum VED band G and is liable for the £25 London Congestion Charge.
All Lancer Evolutions fall into group 19-20 insurance categories with the FQ-300 falling into 19A for the first time.
