Performance, balanced handling, sharp looks, fine gearchange.
Punishing ride, fuel consumption, running costs.
More at home now on the road than rally stage, the Evolution X has finally grown up.

Mitsubishi predicts nothing less than the full 5 stars for adult occupancy in the forthcoming Euro NCAP test and the Evolution X should prove at least as capable in the event of an accident, with all of the bespoke body panels measuring up to strict crash testing criteria.
The new model also boasts standard stability control for the first time and an ABS that uses the four-wheel-drive's yaw sensors to improve braking through a corner.
Like the previous car, the computer-controlled four-wheel-drive set-up has three modes: Tarmac, Gravel and Snow and they adapt the all-wheel-drive system to suit the conditions.
As well as the usual Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser, the Evolution X comes with a Cat 5 tracker that recognises the presence of a credit card-sized key card. If the system detects it's missing, the system's immobiliser is triggered causing the car to cut out.
