Price Range: £9,149 to £9,149

A real electric car that's great for the city and kind to your bank balance.

Mitsubishi i Review

Safety and Security3 out of 5

The i-MiEV's budget roots become apparent as soon as you get in. You have to touch a key to a point on the dash, Eighties style, to deactivate the immobiliser. But there is an alarm and central locking, and the perceived complexity of starting an electric car is likely to be a turn-off to villains.

Having a crash in the electric i should be no more of a concern than in the regular car. It's got the same aluminium spaceframe structure designed to absorb the energy from front and side-on impacts. There's a large crumple zone in the car's nose and it has twin front air bags too. There's ABS and EBD Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, but no stability control.
