Category: Hot Hatchbacks
Price Range: £7,999 to £12,849
Punchy engine, decent kit levels, sharp handling, cheap warranty package.
Overly firm ride, uninspiring cabin, poor steering.
May attract a few hardcore Mitsubishi fans but there are better hot-hatches at this price.

Bear in mind this is a 'Ralliart' with a stiff chassis and sporty suspension. It's built to take corners flat and as such you cannot expect to waft over the lumps and bumps in a limo-like fashion.
Nevertheless, this thing is relentlessly hard. You'll feel everything on the road and you can expect your less robust passengers to start turning green after a 20-minute stint on poorly surfaced roads. It's unbelievably unforgiving and although we appreciate the need for firm suspension on a car like this, there are rivals that deliver more a compliant ride without compromising handling.
The Colt Ralliart offers plenty of kit and in that respect trumps its rivals. Air con, cruise control, steering wheel audio control buttons, aux-in socket, sports seats, aluminium pedals make up the interior goodies. The exterior extras comprise a rear spoiler, special grey-coloured alloys and sports exhaust.
