Reliability, durability, ease of ownership
Small, bland and not particularly cheap
Never a bargain new, the now-discontinued 1996-2004 Colt looks better value secondhand, though it's not particularly roomy, nor especially comfortable.

The relaxing, undemanding drive is marred by the unsettled ride. However, if you drive it smoothly and calmly, it will treat you well; the worst jolts only come with boy-racer antics. Air conditioning is not available, but the driver's seat is fully adjustable. Fine and airy in the front, but cramped in the rear for adults. The boot could be more generous, too, but at least there's a standard split/folding rear seat. Oddments space inside is quite good. There was a radio/cassette on all three models, no CD player being offered, rather an oversight for the Mirage with its otherwise high specification. What is there is of decent enough quality, though, and some buyers may have fitted aftermarket CD systems anyway.
