Reliability, durability, ease of ownership
Small, bland and not particularly cheap
Never a bargain new, the now-discontinued 1996-2004 Colt looks better value secondhand, though it's not particularly roomy, nor especially comfortable.

Fuel economy is good, insurance is groups 5-7, and Mitsubishi servicing is quite reasonable. The Colt also holds its value well, as it's respected on the used market for its durability. Surprisingly popular as a used buy. Not the most distinguished supermini, it really holds its own - and its resale value - on the used market. Basic 1.3 GLX has lots of appeal, but a sunroof - standard on the 1.6 - is a must-have in this very competitive small hatchback sector. The Colt's economic running costs count for much of its appeal, and the all-round package is excellent for everything except excitement. It's priced on the high side, but it could be a faithful domestic appliance (if hardly a friend) for many years.
