Small, bland and not particularly cheap
Never a bargain new, the now-discontinued 1996-2004 Colt looks better value secondhand, though it's not particularly roomy, nor especially comfortable.
An aged design like this can't compete with modern superminis on this score. This Colt never went through the Euro NCAP crash test programme but it would not have achieved more than a mediocre result by today's standards. Only a driver's airbag was standard, 1.6 Mirage models gaining a passenger 'bag as well, but not all versions had ABS anti-lock brakes. The Colt's not a popular choice for criminals; nevertheless, the absence of deadlocks and an alarm is a disappointment.
