Very cute, very fashionable, very well-built, very desirable.
Not that fast, not that cheap.
There was a five-month waiting list for a long time. Says it all, really.

The Mini hatch scored a respectable, but not outstanding, four stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests; as soft-tops go, the Mini has been extensively reinforced for structural rigidity and crash safety, and it sports a pair of rollover bars behind the rear seats. With a high waistline and deep doors, it feels less vulnerable than lower-slung roadsters, too. Security is always going to be an issue with a canvas roof, but it seems as tough as a fabric roof can be, and there is a full complement of immobiliser, Thatcham Category 1 alarm and lockable glovebox. Other kit includes ABS anti-lock brakes with cornering brake control (CBC), tyre pressure warning, front head and chest airbags and disc brakes all round. Cooper S models will add traction and anti-skid control, and dynamic stability control (DSC).
