MINI Cooper Convertible Review

Reliability and Quality4 out of 5

Bar a few initial niggles, the Mini has always been a cut above most other city cars when it comes to quality. The problems experienced with the early hatches - including gearbox, power steering and suspension faults - were ironed out by the time this Convertible joined the range. However, there have been some problems of premature wear with the Webasto-developed electrically-folding hood, with its complex sliding front section, retracting side rails and Z-formation fold. But the entire body structure is solid and substantial, and the general fit and finish is a class ahead of, say, the dated old Ford Streetka, the sometimes problematic 206 CC and the flawed, leaky Citroen Pluriel.
