Mercedes-Benz is back on track with its record for reliability, and the SL is finished with excellent attention to detail.
Some of the electronic systems are very complex, however, and the SBC (Sensotronic Brake Control) system has not been problem-free. This brake-by-wire set-up (with electronic commands replacing traditional hydraulic linkages) has been jerky in a number of SLs we've tested now, and it doesn't inspire confidence.
