Mercedes SL-Class Review

Safety and Security5 out of 5

The last SL pioneered the pop-up roll-over bar now seen on severall high-end sports cars, and this SL adds to the safety armoury. Preventing an accident are traditionals such as ABS anti-lock brakes, Brake Assist, ASR traction control and ESP anti-skid control, as well as novelties such as SBC brake-by-wire and Active Body Control suspension. Protecting you if you do crash is a bodyshell highly developed to withstand front, rear, side and roll-over impacts. In addition, there are dual-stage front airbags, side 'bags and 'bags that pop from the doortops to protect heads. Thief-proofing includes sensors that detect entry even with the roof down, and remote locking that secures all the lidded compartments within the cabin.
