It's a thoroughbred performance car, so the E63 AMG will not be cheap to run. But, as we touched on, AMG has managed to engineer a respectable - and class-leading - fuel economy, with 22mpg possible when driving gently.
It also means the E63's CO2 emissions are rated at 250g/km CO2, which still makes it costly to tax but is excellent for a car of this type.
Unsurprisingly, it's been given the top group 20 insurance rating.
