Mercedes Benz E-Class (1995-2002) Review

Category: Executive 2.5 out of 5

Summary of the Mercedes Benz E-Class (1995-2002)

Price Range: £29,324 to £68,409

Assets

Roomy, refined, beautifully built and blessed with fine V6/V8 engines and an exceptional diesel, the E-Class also holds value very well.

Drawbacks

But it's pricey, some variants are poorly specified for the money, and the four cylinder petrol engines aren't great.

Verdict

A wise choice, if not always an exciting one.

Mercedes E-Class Estate Review

Overview2.5 out of 5

Although very much in the tradition of Stuttgart's executive class saloons the E-Class - which comes with four, six and eight cylinder engines - stands out from the crowd with its trademark circular headlights. It's a great motorway machine, with a restful gait and impressive refinement. Likely to be long-lasting and to retain its value, it is nonetheless not quite as polished as its BMW 5-Series compatriot, despite the improvements it received in 1999.
