Mercedes Benz E-Class (2002-) Review

Category: Executive 3.5 out of 5

Summary of the Mercedes Benz E-Class (2002-)

Price Range: £29,324 to £68,409

Assets

Comfort, road behaviour, safety, intelligently thought-out, overall quality, spacious load bay.

Drawbacks

Styling a little dull, rear room a little tight, irritating brake pump noise, expensive options, not the most dynamic drive in its class.

Verdict

A complete car, but an expensive one, and not without minor irritants.

Mercedes E-Class Estate Review

Running Costs4 out of 5

It's not cheap to buy but, in return, the E-Class should at least hold its value reasonably well. Bear in mind, though, that ticking too many boxes on the options list will not see their value retained when you come to sell. Fuel economy is competitive for petrol and diesel engines, but for company car drivers, the diesels' lower carbon-dioxide emissions mean they will incur the least tax. Servicing costs should be well contained.
