Good looking; comfortable; good selection of engines; excellent crash safety.
Not as practical as some rivals; dull cabin.
Unadventurous, but another good family-friendly Mercedes.

The C-Class, like some other Mercedes models, suffered a dip in quality in the late 90s, but recently the company seems to have returned to its traditional form, and the later W203-series models built in Bremen, Germany were much improved over those from Mercedes' South African factory.
This W204 looks basically well put together, although it has some cheap-looking plastics and materials, especially those tucked away out of sight. The W203 wasn't without faults, but those issues should have been overcome. Mercedes has also been working hard to restore confidence in its maintenance and repair network after many complaints about the poor performance of franchised dealers and service centres.
