The best traditional sports car you can buy

The MX-5 isn't super-cheap to buy but it is good value, and becomes still more so with time because it depreciates relatively slowly. Good fuel economy, bullet-proof reliability and fair servicing costs all help, but the young will find insurance challenging. The MX-5 is one of the most reliable cars you can buy of any kind, and now that it has been around a dozen years, its weak spots are known. In fact, there are none - or at least none of any consequence. These cars also hold their value well and are relatively easy to sell on. The MX-5 is better value following August 2001's price-cuts, and better still given that the latest upgrades have been included at no extra cost. The MX-5 isn't what you'd call a cheap car but, for the type, it's good value - and bear in mind that it holds its value well, too.
