Mazda Mazda6 Estate Review

Running Costs5 out of 5

Chopping weight out of a car is great news for running costs. It means less power is needed to haul the car, and in turn less fuel is drunk.

Fine aerodynamics and the 35kg weight saving mean the 1.8 uses 10% less fuel than the outgoing car. Lower fuel consumption also means carbon dioxide emissions are significantly reduced.

Business users will notice the savings most. A 2.0-litre diesel in TS2 spec not only averages a very creditable 50.4mpg on the combined cycle, it also attracts a tax liability that's 4% lower than the previous model - saving as much as £20 a month in personal tax contributions.
