Spaciousness, practicality, good engines, low running costs.
Patchy interior finish, not as dynamic a drive as Mazda would like you to believe.
Practical car and worthwhile all-rounder, but brings nothing new to the supermini party; and certainly not the essence of zoom.

The 2's seats are not quite as supportive as they could be, being a bit short under the thigh. However, they are not overly uncomfortable. The ride is not quite a smooth as a Fiesta's or a Fabia's either, though it's not jarring. Despite having a decent ride, the 2's interior could be more welcoming. You might be disappointed with the quality of the interior plastics, especially the silver-look centre console and radio, with its apparently faded-yellow display screen.
Wind, road and engine noise are present on all models, but are never excessive.
The 2 is as roomy as you'd expect from a car with a fairly high roofline. You sit quite upright, but there's plenty of room in the front (especially shoulder room) and rear. Two adults could sit in the rear seats without complaint, three at a push. Luggage volume with all the seats in place is 267 litres.
On S models, you get a four-speaker radio-cassette, which, given that the car is aimed at 25-35-year-olds, seems remarkably pointless. A CD player is standard on all other models, and six-speaker sound on the top two trim levels - TS2 and Sport.
