Maserati GranTurismo S (2008-) Review

Category: Exotic Sports 4 out of 5

Summary of the Maserati GranTurismo S (2008-)

Price Range: No data available

Assets

Achingly beautiful, phenomenal sounding and surprisingly able four-seat GT.

Drawbacks

Gearbox still a sticking point for some, steering too edgy at straight ahead position, seat height and support.

Verdict

Addition of the S to the GranTurismo boosts its sporting appeal significantly.

Maserati GranTurismo S Review

Running Costs2 out of 5

Low-volume exotica is never going to be cheap to run, but customers enter ownership with their eyes open to this.

Servicing shouldn't be too expensive, even if dealerships are far from common.

Fuel consumption is likely to be among the biggest costs for owners, the already-thirsty 19.2mpg official figure of the regular GranTurismo falling to an even less palatable 17.0mpg with the S. It's unlikely you'll get near that official figure either, so expect regular wallet-shattering, credit card-melting fill-ups. CO2 emissions of 387g/km are also going to mean large road tax bills, especially when the bands change in 2009.
