Refined and comfortable, quiet with the roof up, likely to be very reliable.
Dull driving manners, underwhelming V6 engine, expensive.
A good choice for anyone after a smooth boulevard cruiser, but it's pricey and won't satisfy keener drivers.

Only one engine will be available with the IS 250C at launch: a 2.5-litre V6 petrol capable of 30.4mpg and emitting 219g/km of CO2, putting it in VED band K and costing £215 per year to tax. That doesn't seem all that great when you consider that BMW offers smaller, more efficient petrol engines with its 3-Series Convertible that also provide zestier performance.
Lexus is keeping quiet about whether or not it will launch a diesel version of the IS C, which could offer better fuel economy and, potentially, more encouraging performance.
For the time being, the 250C is the only choice, but it won't break the bank. It comes with a three-year warranty and, other than normal servicing costs, we wouldn't expect further outlays.
