Lexus has a reputation for reliability that's impossible to fault. The Japanese brand is consistently rated the number one manufacturer in the JD Power customer satisfaction survey and its cars have rightly won accolades for both their build quality and longevity.
If any other manufacturer were offering a convertible with a roof system as complicated as this, we would be wary - Peugeot, for example, has had endless problems and warranty claims with the folding metal hard-tops on its cars. Chances are, though, that this Lexus technology will be effective and hassle-free.
Certainly our test car's fit and finish was up to a high standard, particularly in the well-appointed cabin, which was pleasantly trimmed with high-end, soft-touch materials. Our only minor criticism is aimed at a flimsy-feeling pull-out divider in the boot, which separates the roof stowage area from luggage space. It's a minor blemish, but it does look and feel cheap, and would annoy us if we owned the car.
