Dramatically showy styling, cabin ambience, the view out, cruising ability.
Too showy for some, feels bulky, lack of rear seat legroom, difficult to drive smoothly as a manual, doors can be cumbersome.

Renault has a truly impressive safety record, and despite a challenging body configuration from the crash-performance perspective, the Avantime can be expected to do well in the NCAP crash tests. That said, its bulky feel does not always inspire confidence on the road. Airbags are plentiful, and ABS and brake assist are standard, as traction and ESP anti-skid controls - excellent. Thief-proofing should be very good, Renault having worked with Thatcham, the British insurance assessment body.
