Quiet, smooth engines, good interior design and materials.
Not dynamically the best, quality and reliability concerns, short service intervals for 130bhp diesel.
Average car in a competitive class - good at most things, but outstanding at none.

The Laguna retails in a very competitive, fleet-dominated market sector, so it's no surprise to learn that it's well-priced and has a decent level of equipment.
Fuel consumption is frugal and emissions levels are low, particularly on the diesels.
Service intervals vary, at either a year or, if mileage is completed sooner, at between 9,000 miles (unacceptably, for the 1.9dCi 130) and a much better 18,000 miles (2.0). The other engines need servicing at 12,000 mile intervals.
Insurance groups range from 7E to 14E.
Losses in value are the biggest cost in this class and, over three years, the Laguna retains an average amount of its value, or marginally better than average, depending on which price guide you believe. A mid-range diesel estate would probably retain the most of its value, and any V6 is best avoided if one wants a car that doesn't lose money hand over fist.
