Skoda Superb 1.9 TDI PD (2008-) Review

Category: Large Family 3 out of 5

Summary of the Skoda Superb 1.9 TDI PD (2008-)

Price Range: No data available

Assets

Class-best rear legroom, not far off Audi levels of quality, quiet cruiser.

Drawbacks

Strange rear styling, not as good to drive as the Mondeo. Ride quality deteriorates with bigger wheels.

Verdict

Entry-level diesel is pick of the spacious Superb range with low emissions, plenty of kit and an overwhelming feeling of top-drawer quality.

Review

Safety and Security5 out of 5

The new Skoda Superb has achieved the full five stars for adult occupancy protection by Euro NCAP and all models come standard with seven airbags and ESP. Unusually, a further two rear side airbags can be added.

There's a gamut of safety systems on offer. Anti-Spin Regulation (ASR), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and anti-lock brakes are standard on all models. There's also remote central locking, an alarm and remote tailgate unlocking.

High-series Elegance models come standard with adaptive front lamps that not only bend the lamps to help lighting in corners, but also actively change the shape of the lamps at speed so it widens the beam at motorway speeds and dips it at an urban crawl.
