Beautifully refined petrol engine, predictable handling, classy cabin, precise steering.
Not hugely fun to drive, poor residuals, pricey, uninspiring looks, diesel is a bit noisy.
A far superior Laguna. It's easy to drive and the four-wheel steering is a success. It's good, but not engaging.

The 2.0-litre petrol version can be thirsty if you are too throttle-happy. Do that consistently over a hundred-mile run and you'll see the fuel gauge needle approach half full. Officially, on the combined cycle, the GT delivers 34.4mpg, but it's easy to be over-zealous, so the official 24.6mpg returned on the urban cycle could be a more realistic figure.
The diesel, predictably, drinks less, returning 43.4mpg on average. The diesel emits 172g/km of CO2 and the petrol 194g/km, so tax bills aren't going to be cheap.
