Beautifully refined petrol engine, predictable handling, classy cabin, precise steering.
Not hugely fun to drive, poor residuals, pricey, uninspiring looks, diesel is a bit noisy.
A far superior Laguna. It's easy to drive and the four-wheel steering is a success. It's good, but not engaging.

Renault insists that its improved quality on the new Laguna will inevitably mean solid resale values. That quality will be under the microscope and if there are reports of any glitches or issues with the Laguna, don't expect a lot of return when you come to resell.
Traditionally, resale values for Renaults aren't particularly strong, but because this is a higher spec model expect depreciation to be a couple of percentage points above the standard models. Currently the Laguna range delivers between 36 and 39 per cent of its original value after three years/30,000 miles. You'll be doing well if you get 40 per cent of your Laguna GT's original value in three years' time.
