Refined, roomy, well built, fabulous diesel, superb sports suspension.
Cabin lacks visual flair, uninspiring petrol engines.
Classier than its French rivals, better value than the Germans.

The front seats are very supportive and comfortable and rear accommodation is good, but it's not as capacious as the Mondeo and, despite having 15mm more legroom and 75mm of additional elbow room, the Accord feels cramped compared to the Skoda Superb.
The Tourer's boot is huge - far bigger than most rivals. We also like the remote electrical tailgate operation. It's gimmicky, and will raise a few eyebrows in the supermarket car park, but it makes life easier.
All Accords come with a two-zone climate control and a top-drawer CD and radio sound system as standard, plus a Bluetooth hands-free system for your mobile. EX models gains all manner of plush goodies, while the diesel-only Sport GT and petrol-only Type-S get voice-activated sat nav, a six-CD autochanger and cruise control. Type-S has a meaner look and an alloy gearknob; Sport GT spec includes a neat boot spoiler and the option of an exclusive white paint job.
