This new, more powerful and sportier Quattroporte is great to drive and has a real presence on the road.
The Quattroporte has yet to be tested in the voluntary EuroNCAP crash tests, but the company asserts that it meets the strictest European and US standards.
That certainly seems to be true, thanks in part to a total of eight airbags - dual-stage front airbags (driver and passenger), side bags integrated into the fronts seats and curtain bags. Seat belts have pre-tensioners and there are Isofix attachments in the rear for the securing of child seats.
There's also the usual package of electronics to help prevent accidents in the first place - in this case it's the Maserati Stability Program (MSP), which works in conjunction with the ABS, EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution) and ASR (traction control).
In addition to the active and passive safety measures is the inclusion in the Quattroporte of LED lights at the front and rear, which are brighter and easier for other drivers to see when braking, for example. The new headlight unit also includes adaptive lights, which help to cast light directionally when cornering.
The car is also secure from green-eyed thieves thanks to an alarm system that includes sensors inside and out, an anti-lit device and immobiliser: if someone manages to bypass these devices and actually get away with your car, there's also a NavTrak tracking system.
