Extremely broad range of on- and off-road capabilities, good on-road refinement, growly-sounding and strong-performing petrol engines, fantastic TDV8 diesel, good interior ambience and an extremely comfortable interior.
A little heavier than most rivals, and thirstier than some; really needs Dynamic Response to adequately contain body movements on demanding roads.
One of the most broadly capable cars on the planet. Its off-road capability probably, though understandably, compromises its on-road agility a little, but its depth of ability pretty much justifies its weight.

No EuroNCAP results just yet, but the Range Rover Sport is an immensely strong car. We took it to full axle articulation, rocking on two diagonally opposed wheels with the other two diagonals off the ground, weighted the interior with two adults on the 'hanging' axis, and opened the large tailgate. On some cars, it wouldn't have quite shut properly due to body twist, but no problems with the Range Sport.
There's a full complement of airbags as standard and the laws of physics say that 2,500kg of Range Rover will come off better in a crash than most cars on the road. Those laws also say, of course, that the Range Rover Sport will take a bit more stopping than most cars, regardless of the fact that it has ABS, brake assist and stability control. All Range Rover Sports get an alarm.
