Off-road ability, roomy interior, economical powertrain, good looks.
Expensive, interior feeling dated, not the sportiest on-road drive.
This Freelander offers useful fuel savings if driven correctly; it's an SUV that still makes sense.

The Freelander 2 TD4_e's carbon dioxide emissions have been reduced to 179g/km, from the outgoing TD4's 194, bringing it down to tax band E.
Fuel consumption is reduced overall from 37.7mpg to a far more respectable 42.2mpg on the combined-cycle tests. In stop-start city driving the fuel savings are a good 18% over the non stop/start models if you follow the gear-change instructions.
Residual (resale) values of diesel Freelanders are generally better than for many rival models, though insurance and crash repairs can be quite dear. Land Rover parts and servicing will be a little cheaper than for the German-brand models, however.
