The Land Rover Freelander 2 has achieved a full five star rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests for overall adult protection, with four stars for child protection but only one star for pedestrian protection.

Its stability - traditionally an issue with high-riding 4x4s and SUVs - has been improved with the latest ESP technology.

There are seven airbags, including one for the driver's knee.
