Good engines, improved driving dynamics over previous version, good pricing and equipment
Interior quality still lacks class and sophistication of rivals, on-road behaviour still doesn't match the best either, thirsty
The all-new Grand Cherokee is a vast improvement on the car it replaces, but it's still not one of the better cars in this ever-more competitive class.

This latest Grand Cherokee has notably firmer seats than previous ones, sacrificing a little showroom appeal for, the company says, increased comfort over distance. Electric seat adjustment comes as standard, but the steering wheel still only adjusts for rake, and not reach, disappointingly. That said, the pedals electrically adjust, which largely compensates for this. The cabin is light and roomy, with decent leg and shoulder room, although headroom is a little more restricted than most rivals. Visibility across the bonnet is good and the mirrors are large, but rear window visibility is a little restricted and the A-pillars are too wide. The grab handles for front seat occupants are also located on the A-pillars, necessitating an awkward stretch from the passenger seat.
