Price Range: £27,100 to £41,800
Value for money. Delivers plenty of performance, especially in V8 form. Easy to drive, and quite able off-road.
Fuel economy is on poor side. Rear seats not spacious. Rivals have better interior quality.
Not as good competitive it was. Image and value keep it selling.

A smooth ride and low noise levels help to cosset the driver and passengers from the outside world. The rear seats lack some support, but the front pair are very supportive and comfortable indeed. The cabin is quite well finished and can be had with plenty of gadgetry to make life less stressful. The Grand Cherokee might be huge, but it could be more spacious - particularly in the rear. The front seat occupants have plenty of space. The boot is big, too, and has easy access thanks to a separate opening for the tailgate glass. There's a fair amount of space for odds and ends inside, and there's a particularly handy storage space for 12 CDs, in their cases, between the front seats, which almost every other car could learn from. The Grand Cherokee has an RDS radio with both cassette and CD player, all mounted in the dashboard for convenience's sake. Sound quality is very good, controls are simple and there are some particularly tactile supplemental controls on the steering wheel. No sat-nav though, which is now unusual in this class.
