Category: Sporting 4x4s
Price Range: £27,100 to £41,800
Value for money. Delivers plenty of performance, especially in V8 form. Easy to drive, and quite able off-road.
Fuel economy is on poor side. Rear seats not spacious. Rivals have better interior quality.
Not as good competitive it was. Image and value keep it selling.

Service costs are competitive for such a large and complex vehicle. Fuel consumption may be poor, but so is that for many of its rivals. Depreciation isn't horrendous, either, as demand for the model is still strong. Big and bold, the Grand Cherokee finds it slightly more difficult on the used market, unless the price is equally attractive. Hardest to resell is the petrol V8 because of its thirst; the turbo-diesel is cheaper and a much more appealing long-term prospect. Otherwise, the Grand Cherokee is a better bet than many other full-sized 4x4s, coming packed with kit at a decent price. This is a big off-roader that's big on value. The standard specification is very complete and highly attractive compared to many rival 4x4s. The range starts with Limited trim, and just about the only equipment wanting is an electric sunroof, which the top-spec Overland comes with as standard.
