Value for money. Delivers plenty of performance, especially in V8 form. Easy to drive, and quite able off-road.
Fuel economy is on poor side. Rear seats not spacious. Rivals have better interior quality.
Not as good competitive it was. Image and value keep it selling.

At its launch in 1999, the Grand Cherokee presented a very real rival to the best in the luxury 4x4 segment. However, since then the BMW X5 and a new Range Rover have been launched, so the Grand Cherokee has to play on a 'value for money' note a little more these days.
You get a lot of car for your money, and the equipment levels are pretty generous at the price, too. There are four engine options - three big petrol motors and a Mercedes-Benz sourced diesel. Good job it's well priced - for such a large car it's still not that spacious inside, and its best rivals better it by a reasonable margin. The image is still good, though.
