Excellent off-road ability, plenty of kit, bold styling.
Poor handling, plasticky cabin, expensive to run.
Great off-road, poor on it. There are better, cheaper 4x4s that have better all-round abilities.

The previous Cherokee scored four out of five stars for adult occupant protection in the Euro NCAP crash tests, but only one for pedestrian protection.
It's not short of safety kit though: traction control, anti-lock brakes, panic Brake Assist, stability control, an enhanced accident response system - a system that opens the doors, windows and turns the lights on in the event of accident - are all included. Front airbags and side curtain airbags are standard.
Remote keyless entry, a Thatcham Category 1 security system with immobiliser and child seat anchors are all offered as standard-fit items.
