Excellent off-road ability, plenty of kit, bold styling.
Poor handling, plasticky cabin, expensive to run.
Great off-road, poor on it. There are better, cheaper 4x4s that have better all-round abilities.

Jeep rarely features in UK-based customer satisfaction surveys, but in the US this manufacturer hasn't covered itself in glory. In the latest JD Power Survey Jeep's performance was mediocre and the old Cherokee fared little bitter. Owners might have been pleased with performance of the powertrain, but they weren't that enamoured by almost all other aspects of the car.
Clearly Jeep is hoping that this latest-generation Cherokee will perform better but we found little to suggest that it will be shooting up the customer satisfaction tables in the near future when we inspected the car. The plastics inside were flimsy and the dials and instruments looked cheap. Even the rear wiper on our test car looked like it was struggling to do its job. Not a good sign.
