Effortless pace, snarling V8 soundtrack, smooth shifting auto, looks great.
Still thirsty, some fussy styling details.
XK remains a fine GT - it's the grandest of grand tourers.

It's a tough act to follow in the tyre tracks of the sensational new XKR. How can you compete with a sibling that offers near supercar performance, sportscar handling and enough aesthetic aggression to make a small child cry?
But it would be a mistake to overlook the XK, not least because it now offers the pace of the old XKR.
The facelifted XK is easily identified over the old car with its new front bumper with two gills carved into the edges. There's also new mirrors, rear LED lamps and more subtle body-coloured 'power' vents behind the front wheels. It's generally a lot more subtle all round than the XKR.
Inside, the Jag's cabin has been overhauled, lifting much from the XF - a car that leads its class for design and innovation.
Under the bonnet there is a larger 5.0-litre V8 (up from 4.2). Despite the increase the new engine is fractionally smaller and weighs almost the same but boasts a mighty 380bhp, thanks to direct injection and the addition of variable valve and inlet timing.
Along with the added power, Jag engineers have tweaked the XK's chassis and added adaptive suspension to make the XK a better drive than ever before. Which poses the question: is this wolf in sheep's clothing the pick of the XK range?
