Good value, well-equipped, capable cruiser, pleasant auto box, economical, low emissions.
Stodgy on cornering, too softly sprung on bumpier roads, cabin feels old-fashioned, poor residuals.
Sometimes it does feel like and old man's car, but you get plenty of kit for your money. German rivals are better to drive.

In the JD Power customer satisfaction survey Jaguar has performed reasonably well. The X-type came 25th out of 100 models in the league table but then again the BMW 3-Series came 16th and the Audi A4 came 20th. There were a few complaints with the steering and the brakes and some owners complained of problems with the exterior. Jag drivers do get a decent, yet pricey, service at the dealerships too, so if you do have a problem with your X-Type it's not going to cause you too many headaches.
Qualitywise, there are few complaints. In the test cars we drove, the fit and finish were excellent and there were no disconcerting rattles or squeaks. The Interior of the Jag feels solidly built and luxurious.
There's some new bits and bobs: diamond or horizontal stitching on the backs of the seats, a new tungsten vent surround and upgraded chrome finishing the steering wheel switches and vents add to the feeling of quality.
