Infiniti G37 Review

Comfort and Equipment5 out of 5

For those who want a more relaxed driving experience, the G37 could well be answer.

While the BMW is for the keener drivers, the Infiniti will suit those who just like to sit back and cruise. It's wonderfully stable on the motorway, but can be jiggly on uneven surfaces. Wind and road noise is well suppressed, but thankfully the engine has not been so muted: you want to hear that 3.7-litre roar from time to time.

The cabin is pleasant but the vast array of buttons and switches can be confusing.

The G37 is fully loaded with standard kit, however. A six-disc, seven-speaker CD audio system with an aux-in jack socket for MP3 players, Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity, cruise control, power seats, auto-dimming rear view mirror, front and rear parking sensors, automatic lights and wipers, 18" alloy wheels, and integrated fog lamps are all included.

The GT version adds leather upholstery, a 10-way power driver's seat with power lumbar support and an eight-way-powered passenger front seat. Heated front seats are also standard and the I-key incorporates memory positions for driver's seat, steering wheel column and door mirrors.

The S adds aluminium pedals and footrest and sports seats. Leather seats are heated and have 14-way power adjustment for the driver and eight-way power adjustment for the passenger. There's a tyre pressure monitoring system as standard, plus 18" alloy sports wheels.

All Infiniti models include Scratch Shield paint a special paint that 'heals' any minor scratches when exposed to heat.

An optional multimedia pack that includes a DVD navigation system, rear view parking camera, voice recognition and a Bose sound system with 11 speakers is available, as are adaptive front headlights. You can also go for the Around View Monitor, which uses small cameras mounted at the front, rear and integrated in the door mirrors of G37 to project an all-round view of potential obstacles on every side of the vehicle.

The new seven-speed automatic transmission with paddleshifts, polished aluminium roof rails, metallic paint, electric glass sunroof, temporary spare wheel (replacing standard tyre repair kit) and a maple wood interior trim are further optional extras.
