Infiniti FX Review

Safety and Security4 out of 5

The FX is a big, sturdy thing and comes fitted with all the necessary safety devices to keep you safe in the event of an accident - and to help avoid one in the first place.

In terms of the preventative electronics, there's Intelligent Brake Assist (IBA) with a collision warning system, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with traction control, a lane departure warning system and tyre pressure monitor.

Inside, there are six airbags (two front, two side and two curtain), seatbelt pretensioners, head restraints and a child seat tether system (which will be Isofix in UK versions).

There are no Euro NCAP test ratings yet, as the Infiniti range is yet to be launched on the continent, but US crash tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rate the FX as 'good' in its frontal offset test (head-on collision) but marginal for rear crash protection.
