Other, newer cars have flashier seating systems, but the Honda's has the great advantage that it's so very easy to use. You don't need to be tall or strong, you don't need to remove anything, and you don't have to jog around the car from door to hatch and back again in order to achieve your chosen seating layout.
The unusual cinema-style rear seats give you the option of having the seat bases folded upright, which creates a tall space behind the front seats suitable for bicycles (with the front wheel off) or yucca plants; and it's perfect for carrying heavy items, like a sack of potatoes, that you wouldn't want to risk lifting into and out of the boot. The front passenger seat folds flat, and the rear seats split 60:40 and fold flat to increase the boot space from 353 to 845 litres, without any need to remove the rear head restraints. With the rear seats used in the conventional manner there's loads of rear legroom.
Every Jazz now comes fitted with equipment including front electric windows, a CD player and an MP3 socket. The 1.4 SE gets alloy wheels and air con, and the 1.4 Sport gets climate control, a leather steering wheel and foglights.
Satellite navigation is not an option - one of the few signs of the Jazz's age.
