Clever yet simple interior, economical yet lively, small yet roomy.
Can bounce over poor surfaces, no diesel engine choice.
It's versatile, well made and fun to use.

In Euro NCAP crash tests the Jazz has achieved a four-star adult occupant protection rating, plus three for child occupants and three out of four stars for the pedestrian impact tests. The 1.4 comes with two front and two side airbags; the 1.2 has just the front bags.
The Isofix child seat system has additional tethers to hold the top of the seat in place, the centre rear passenger has a proper three-point belt whose diagonal retracts into the roof, and the fuel tank's position is well protected from impact.
Anti-lock is backed up by brakeforce distribution on the disc brakes; pre-2004 Jazzes had rear drums, which were perfectly adequate.
A rolling-code immobiliser, deadlocks and central locking should help keep thieves at bay, but there's no alarm.
