The Fit hasn't been officially slammed into a wall yet, so there's no NCAP rating, but back in Japan, it comes with an abundance of safety tech, designed to protect both passengers and pedestrians. The body has been engineered to withstand front, offset, side and rear impacts at speeds up to 40 mph and to handle full-whack car-to-car crunch tests as well - in-house tests which Honda says are far tougher than the standard barrier type. Inside, in the domestic market, the Fit gets front dual airbags as standard, with i-side front airbags as options. Car theft is still in its infancy in Japan, so until the model arrives in Europe, there's nothing to report on the security front.
