Comfortable and well equipped, with superb ride quality.
Not quick and not pretty.
Terrific family transport, but now so on-road orientated that it may as well be a proper car.
From £19,000 to £25,000. On sale in the UK from January 2007.

Lots of comfort, lots of equipment. The shorter, wider, lower new CR-V has bigger, better front seats than the old one. The driving position is at exactly the same giddy height as before - that's a major selling point for urban SUVs - but the steering wheel now has reach as well as rake adjustment, so nearly everyone should be able to get comfortable.
The rear seats slide and all three can be individually lowered, helping give the CR-V a load space that's usefully flexible rather than huge. The boot has a sturdy parcel shelf that seems well positioned; it's high enough for the average pushchair to fit beneath it when folded, or a golf bag, and it's strong enough to be used as a handy place to store the kids' mounds of plastic nonsense during a long journey.
The basic specification level is SE, and it's not very basic at all: 17" wheels, an MP3 socket, audio controls on the steering wheel and air conditioning are all standard.
ES level adds front and rear parking sensors, leather on the steering wheel and gear lever, front foglights and dual-zone climate control.
The top grade, EX, gains 18" alloys, all-leather upholstery, heated front seats and multiple electronically controlled adjustments for the driver's seat. It also includes a rear parking camera, DVD satellite navigation and a Bluetooth hands-free phone set-up, a combination that's an option for ES buyers.
