With the automatic transmission, the petrol engine returns a decent combined fuel consumption figure of 34.9mpg; with the manual gearbox, it's 34.5mpg. The manual-only diesel wallops them both, returning 43.5mpg. Servicing is every 12,500 miles for both engines. Insurance is slightly higher than for the Japanese alternatives.
