Price Range: £14,750 to £21,780
Roomy, good value, economical.
Brakes and steering lack feel, unattractive interior.
Technically clever, but the mpg figures barely seem worth the bother.

The Civic Hybrid's Euro NCAP crash test results are good but not spectacular: four out of five for adult and child occupant protection, with three out of four for pedestrian protection. (The Prius has five, four and two.)
Anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and stability control are fitted as standard, as are active front head restraints.
The tyres are designed to save fuel by having a low rolling resistance, but that's not left them short of grip.
To deter thieves, the Civic Hybrid comes with remote central locking, deadlocks and an immobiliser with a rolling code.
