Excellent engines, economy, fun handling, low running costs, reliability, spaciousness.
Firm ride, engine noise, plain-looking 5dr, somewhat bland interior.
One of the most sensible cars if you're seeking practicality and efficiency. Not the most comfortable though, nor the most fun.

For a car that debuted in 2001, the Civic scores pretty well in independent organisation EuroNCAP's crash tests, gaining four-stars for occupant protection and a particularly good three-star rating for pedestrian safety, though we're not convinced that the latter is a selling point for buyers just yet. ABS, front and side airbags are all standard (except side airbags on the heavily bolstered seats on the Type-R), while remote central locking is standard and, on SE models and above, an alarm.
