Honda Civic (1996-2001) Review

Category: Small Family 3.5 out of 5

Summary of the Honda Civic (1996-2001)

Price Range: £14,750 to £21,780

Assets

Civics are an easy drive and combine low fuel consumption with peppy performance. They hold their value well, and enjoy outstanding reliability.

Drawbacks

Dull looks, average crash protection and the three door's firm ride are off-putting.

Verdict

A tempting and sound buy that is no trouble to own.

Honda Civic Review

Comfort and Equipment3.5 out of 5

The three door's ride is a bit choppy, and both versions have engines that are noisy when pushed. In other respects refinement is average, though they score for being so effortless to drive. Both the three- and five-door are roomy in front, but the three-door is cramped in the rear, which is awkward to get into. It has a small boot too; the five-door's is better. None of the three door Civics gets an RDS traffic information facility, and it's rare on the five door. But the stereos are easy to use, and sound good.
