Summary of the Honda Civic Type-S 1.4 (2009-)

Price Range: No data available

Assets

Hot hatch looks, fine fuel consumption, low emissions.

Drawbacks

Tepid performance, poor rear visibility, i-Shift gearbox is poor auto substitute.

Verdict

New 1.4 is the low-cost star of the range, but it's no hot hatch.

Honda Civic Type-S Review

Reliability and Quality5 out of 5

Few cars are as reliable, well-built and engineered like a Honda. The brand ranked third in the recent JD Power satisfaction survey, while the Civic itself came 12th out of more than 100 cars for owner satisfaction, with owners praising reliability and the dealer experience.

Inside, it doesn't feel as nicely finished as, say, a Volkswagen Golf. Some of the plastics are below par and ahead of the handbrake there's a pair of nasty blank spaces for extra switches. It just looks a bit... unfinished.
